Hello! My name is Melissa Semira and I am the Director at Children of Tomorrow in Chanhassen. I am very excited to be part of such an amazing child care center and school! Here’s a little bit about me…
First and foremost, I am a parent. I have two wonderful children, Riley (9) and Brodie (6). The priceless experience they have given me goes way beyond any collegiate or professional training I have had! I received my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences in 2005 and was a nanny through a professional organization throughout college and beyond. During my undergrad, I focused on courses in Child Development and Child Psychology, and became fluent in American Sign Language. Once I started a family of my own, I chose to work nights in management for the top restaurant holdings company in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area so that I could stay home with my children during the day. My professional career in management has given me the ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced, high energy environment. Throughout my years as a nanny, a parent, and my with undergraduate focus on child development, I uncovered a genuine passion for educating and encouraging children to learn and grow.
I chose to work in the early childhood education field because I adore children and I cherish all of the experiences they bring into my life on a daily basis. As a parent myself, I firmly believe in COT’s incredibly important goal to provide communication between the parents and teachers. One of my responsibilities is to hold true to the commitment of working closely with the families to ensure that the special needs of every child are met through effective communication, support and education. I also work on all of the behind-the-scenes aspects of COT to allow the teachers to do what they do best and focus on ensuring they meet our common goal of making the children our number one priority! I take pride in providing a caring, comfortable, reliable resource for parents and teachers to utilize so that the children and the staff can thrive.
