Our pre school programs focus on creating opportunities for your child to become aware of themselves as an individual person. With our programs, your child will become eager to learn and want to succeed. Our preschool programs are planned according to each child’s needs. We divide our preschoolers into three classrooms (3 year olds, 4 year olds and 5 year olds) to better meet the varying capabilities and interests of this age group. Our teachers plan weekly or monthly theme units involving:
Creative Play
Dramatic play areas such as grocery store, dress-up, school, airport/travel agency, post office, etc. stimulate the children’s imagination and language skills. Small & Large Muscle Movements
Coloring, playdough, a variety of blocks and beads, crawling, marching, skipping, hopping, balancing and outdoor activities are just some of the ways we strengthen these muscles. Arts and Crafts
Children will paint, trace, color, cut and paste and use their creativity to produce a final outcome! Perfection is not what we are looking for - doing their best and trying is what counts! Music
We sing, dance, play musical instruments and produce rhythms and rhymes, etc. Science
All activities are planned to encourage investigating, experimenting, observing, discovering, problem solving and recording. Examples of this would be cooking projects, growing plants, outdoor experiments, etc. Math
Numbers and counting are a part of our everyday life - we will work on this daily! Other math activities will involve concepts such as volume, weight, height, shape, measurements and sorting. Language Arts
Children will be encouraged to participate in daily conversations with their peers on a one-to-one basis, as well as in a group. We will also work on listening, role-playing and story telling. Letter recognition, sounds, sentence forming, and grammar will be worked on daily.
Each week these skills will be implemented into fun themes that keep the children interested in learning. Your child will also learn how to become self directed to make better choices. Our classrooms provide special areas for the children to choose their own activity. These areas include: math, language, reading, science, dramatic play, blocks, small motor activities, sensory opportunities, manipulative toys and games.
Respect is key to growing up in this tough world! Learning how to respect ourselves as well as others is very important. This will be worked on daily as the children learn how to become responsible for themselves by taking care of their belongings and cleaning up after they have played, eaten or used the bathroom. The children will learn to be respectful of other children’s belongings as well as the school’s materials. Children will be allowed to choose a “special” job for the day or the week. The children will not be punished for not completing the job, but will be rewarded for trying/attempting and/or carrying out the task. This helps build self-esteem in children and that is definitely what we want!
There is time for outside play, inside play, teacher directed activities and self directed activities.
Come and take a look to see what our programs are all about!
