Aleta Mechtel, President
Aleta Mechtel, owner and president of Children of Tomorrow, has a life-long passion for education. Aleta knew she wanted to work with children from her first babysitting job.
Since Children of Tomorrow opened in Chanhassen in 2000, Aleta has guided parents in finding the right care for their children. Children of Tomorrow offers a wide range of programs for children that create a strong foundation, and a safe and educational experience before entering elementary school. Aleta believes in having a superior staff, focusing on exceptional academics, one-on-one interaction, and meeting each individual need of every child. Children of Tomorrow has been awarded “Best Childcare in Carver County, MN” multiple times.
Abby Lundborg, Regional Director
Abby Lundborg the regional director, who specializes in quality and development, curriculum training, teacher development and building relationships. She works with early childhood professionals through changes and everyday challenges. Abby is very passionate about working with families and young children. She brings her experience in quality care and education along with NAEYC best practices to do what is best for children.
Before becoming a part of the COT Team, Abby worked at another center where she was a center director and quality team lead for 16 different schools within that one chain.
She has a degree in human relations and early childhood education.
She believes that given the correct tools all people big and small can accomplish anything!
Abby lives right outside of Belle Plaine, where you will find her chasing her twins! She enjoys camping with her family, online shopping, and refurbishing old furniture.
Mara Habisch, Director of Core Values
Mara is the Director of Core Values for Children of Tomorrow, where she specializes in forming a meaningful, creative, positive and energetic environment for all COT Staff.
Mara brings over 12 years of customer service experience as well as an AAS in Sales and Management, a BS in Business Management and recently completed her certificate in Digital Marketing. She is no stranger to the child care field, she has worked as an aide, assistant teacher and a lead teacher for all ages. She has also been an assistant director and brings her customer service background and many years with classroom management to Children of Tomorrow where she collaborates with the assistant directors and directors to create a unique customer service environment for all families.
Mara lives in Winsted, MN with her husband and three children. She enjoys camping, ice fishing, running, and spending time with family and friends.
Chelsea Lapham, Director of Partnerships and Development
Chelsea is a 2009 graduate of the St. Cloud Technical College with a degree in Information Technology and emphasis on Medical Technology. Chelsea decided to them follow her true passion; Early Childhood Education. Chelsea started her teaching journey by earning her Child Development Associates in 2012. Chelsea worked her way up into management positions over the last ten years. Chelsea came to COT with a passion to educate, empower, develop and inspire teachers.
You can find Chelsea at all 4 COT locations hiring, leading and assisting the educators in the classrooms. Chelsea is in charge of the benefit programs that COT has to offer. You will also see Chelsea supporting the director teams in an absence.
Chelsea enjoys attending sporting events, especially the Vikings games, singing loudly at concerts, and chasing around her fur child, Dallas.
